Brightspot gets social with acquisition of Kick Apps platform and customers

Brightspot acquires KickApps Social Media platform and enterprise customers, adding world-class social features and functionality to its Brightspot publishing platform.

RESTON, VA – KickApps, a widely distributed social media application, is the first acquisition by Brightspot, a full-service product development company based in Reston, VA. Brightspot will integrate key social features into their Brightspot CMS, including identity management, social graph sharing and user-generated content tools in early 2013.

The KickApps acquisition signifies Brightspot's strong commitment to providing an innovative publishing platform to companies looking to evolve their digital presence on web and mobile platforms. The platform is coupled with Brightspot's full-service and strategic product development capabilities including Content Development & SEO Strategy, User Experience Design, a world-class Engineering team, and 24/7 Hosting Operations.

Brightspot recently partnered with The Coca-Cola Company on their launch of Coca-Cola Journey. For The Coca-Cola Company, Brightspot worked with their internal team to develop a content pipeline and workflow, and to transform their digital team into a best-in-class digital publishing group. Coca-Cola Journey was the 24th project launch for Brightspot, continuing to deliver on it's mission of making each part of the digital solution well thought through and high performing. “Brightspot combines a deep publishing expertise with excellence in execution,” said Ashley Brown, Director of Digital Communications and Social Media at The Coca-Cola Company. “Our partnership is frictionless and flawless, and their passion is palpable.”

With the KickApps product acquisition comes existing enterprise client relationships with numerous media, consumer and sports brands including The Washington Redskins, Turner, BET and TheWeatherChannel.

Brightspot's platform now powers 16 media properties and recently added the ability to allow editors to effortlessly simultaneously publish content to all their digital experiences (desktop, tablet and mobile and all major social platforms) through a single editorial dashboard. “Integrating and delivering on social media programming is cumbersome for the leading content management systems,” added Mr. Gang. “We will be the first platform to deliver a seamless social publishing experience, providing a coordinated approach across all digital touch points which will eliminate the multiple sets and platforms required to reach our audience today."
