Today, Brightspot employees pledged to help create a more accepting and inclusive world for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by eliminating the derogatory and hateful use of the R-Word.
Participating in Special Olympics' annual Spread the Word to End the Word™ campaign, Brightspot employees signed their names and sported t-shirts that highlighted the message and ideals of respect. Led by Brightspot Quality Assurance Engineer, Rose Pleskow, a decorated Special Olympics athlete and Global Messenger, the banner quickly filled up with signatures.
In line with Brightspot's mission to impact society through concrete actions that allow its employees to walk in the shoes of those it serves, Spread the Word to End the Word™ provides employees with a chance to show their commitment to individuals with intellectual disabilities, and at the same time provides greater meaning to the technical and digital support we provide to Special Olympics throughout the year.
With similar efforts happening around the globe, most of which were youth-led, Special Olympics and Best Buddies aim to build awareness, eliminate negative stereotypes, and create the first Unified Generation.
