As part of our ongoing partnership with Indigo Golf Partners and Buffalo Groupe, LLC, Brightspot was recently asked to update the design of the Morning Read newsletter and website and to replatform their homegrown CMS into an easy-to-use content management system where their editorial team can make updates on the fly.
From the outset, we faced two significant challenges. First, the design of the legacy website mimicked that of the Morning Read newsletter and, as such, included design elements that didn’t make sense for a website. Second, each of their three publications was hosted and managed separately: Morning Read is the name of both the website and the daily morning newsletter; Where to Golf Next serves as the weekly authority on golf destinations; and The Equipment Insider provides a weekly look at equipment, gear and technology.
To give Morning Read its own identity and also solve for managing three separate sites, we worked closely with Buffalo Groupe, LLC to update the site with a new look and feel and to develop a new taxonomy that merged the three brands into one cohesive multimedia platform. The publications now share a common taxonomy and a modern design that delivers a mobile-optimized user experience, with expanded search capabilities and engaging content across editorial, video and podcasts.
To elevate their newsletter experience, we built a custom API integration between Brightspot and their email service provider, Moosend, which enables them to schedule and send emails from within Brightspot. Through that API, subscribers are now added to the Moosend mailing list directly from the Morning Read website—with no manual intervention required.
With the shared taxonomy and custom newsletter integration, the publishing team can now leverage shared content and technology to update the site and manage the daily newsletter in a single, flexible and easy-to-use environment. They are empowered to provide readers with real-time golfing updates in a way they couldn’t on their legacy site and more easily connect with audiences on all aspects of the golf industry.
With every project, we ingest valuable learnings and feedback from our clients to constantly evolve both Brightspot and the services we provide to meet and exceed every need. Our work on Morning Read offered the Brightspot team the opportunity to grow our institutional knowledge of newsletter best practices and to add Moosend to our integrations portfolio, both of which we can employ with other activations and future clients.
