Inside Brightspot: Translations

Reach global audiences using robust translation management features, which support both automatic translation or manual translations if you prefer.

The Brightspot translation feature was built to provide a quick, intuitive and easy way to send content from Brightspot to be translated through an external translation provider or via manual translation in Brightspot, itself. To begin the translation process, simply select a source piece of published content. Brightspot can support translating from any source locale, so your writers are not limited to writing in English. In just a few clicks, the content you've selected can be instantaneously translated to French, German, Portuguese, Spanish or Swedish. An editor can then review the draft translation and make any needed changes before publishing.

[Speaker 1] For many publishers today, whether your organization is truly global, spans north America or is simply trying to reach multilingual audiences here in the U.S., it is increasingly imperative to produce digital content in multiple languages and to do so quickly efficiently and at scale.

With Brightspot's frictionless translation integrations, you can quickly and effortlessly translate content into hundreds of different locales in seconds using AI-powered machine translation services from Amazon, Google or Lingotek regardless of your original source language. Want to translate your content by hand? You can do that too. Of course, many Brightspot customers do both—running content through machine translations first and then having humans spot check and edit the machine translations as needed.

Let's have a look at how quick and effortless this can be.

Before you translate a single piece of content, you might start by having a look at the translations you have to see if there are any translations of it already. You can see here that there are not yet for this article. To create one, use the three dots menu next to the publish button and choose "Translate this article," select the translation service you would like to use and the locale you would like to translate to. We use the term locale because as you can see there can be many flavors of any given language that are appropriate for various countries or regions. If you'd like, you can select multiple locales or even the "all locales" button—and Brightspot will seamlessly translate this article into as many locales as you need (up to 270-plus of them in this Lingotek example, all at once with no extra work required).

Simply hit the translate button and you're all set. Now quickly go back to the translations tab of the article and you'll find the translated version there waiting for you. Just a few seconds later you can see a history of the translations in the log. If there are ever questions about when or by whom it was translated, and you can simply click on the translated article to open it up.

Note that not only was the article content headline, sub headline and body text translated, so was the permalink so that we don't confuse the search engines.

Finally, now that you know how easy it is to translate a specific asset to one or more locales, or even to all of them, let's quickly look at how frictionless it is with Brightspot to translate a whole bunch of content at once: search for articles, use filters to narrow down your list, select the articles you want to translate, and then look for the bulk translate option behind the three dots menu. From here, the steps are exactly the same as when you were translating an individual article one at a time only.

Now you can translate as many articles as you need seamlessly in a matter of seconds.
