Reduce Publishing Time With Federated Search

Federated Search is a powerful out-of-the-box feature that comes with the platform. It allows you to query a third-party database (like Getty Images) directly from Brightspot, saving you time whenever you need to find a new asset. Once you locate the asset you were looking for, you can import it as a Brightspot content type, edit it and add assets—all without ever leaving the CMS. The setup process requires only a simple configuration, with no IT required. In the example of Getty Images, all you’d need to do is enable a plug-in and enter a Getty API key into settings.

The above demo covers Brightspot federated search, a feature that requires no IT support in its setup. This functionality gives you the option to query a third-party site with an API, like Getty or YouTube, for images or videos—all without ever leaving the publishing tool. Once you gain access to a database’s content, you can import it directly into Brightspot. Then you can treat it like any other content type in Brightspot.

Let’s say you have access to the Getty Images database. Simply enter a search term in the Brightspot dashboard, and all available Getty photos will appear. This is a tremendous time-saver, as publishers don’t need to toggle back and forth between a separate site and the CMS. Everything from external content types is available to search within Brightspot. What’s more, you don’t need a separate team to help you manage images; instead, you can query for them, edit them and add the necessary metadata all within the CMS.
