Rob Irvine, Brightspot Senior Vice President, Creative Services

How long have you been working at Brightspot?
I have been at Brightspot for almost 3 years.

Where did you work prior to Brightspot?
I worked at Vetstreet, which is an animal health care company that created a consumer facing website for pet lovers and enthusiasts.

What is a day like in the life of a content director?
Well, I do a lot of things. I work with our partners on developing content plans for their sites. Additionally, I work with groups of writers and editors to produce original content. Lastly, I produce metrics reports for some of our partners, helping them understand how their website is functioning, what they can do to grow traffic, and what content to prioritize in the future.

You work very closely with Coca-Cola on the Journey website. How do you work together to determine what content will generate the most traffic?
We produce a weekly report for Journey called the EOI report. It’s a weekly report that tells the Journey editors what their top performing content is and what is being engaged with the most on social media. Then, we turn that report into recommendations on what type of content might perform well in the future.

You have also played a major role in producing Jordan Spieth’s website. What do you enjoy most about working on Jordan’s site?
Simply telling Jordan’s story. He is an incredible young man with amazing focus and discipline. Seeing all of his hard work pay off this year with his first two major championships has been very fun to watch.

What is your favorite part about working for Brightspot?
The people! I love the people here. I also like our partners. The way we work for them is unique to Brightspot. We are really dedicated to their success.

What are your favorite activities or hobbies outside of the office?
Anything to do with my family! I have 3 children. I love spending time with them, going to their games, playing with them, and chasing them, especially my 3 year old, Oscar.

What was the last movie you saw? Would you recommend it?
It’s been a long time! Sadly, you don’t have time to watch movies when you have kids.

What’s your favorite Starbucks drink?
Medium ice coffee with no sugar and no milk!

If you could be any animal, which animal would you be, and why?
That’s a tough question! I think I would like to be an eagle because I could fly and look over everything.
