Mike has been working for Brightspot since November 2013.

This week, Rose went on the record with Mike Wang, an Information Architect at Brightspot, formerly Perfect Sense, who works with a variety of clients including Cisco, Walmart, Jordan Spieth, and The Masters. In this role, Mike is responsible for designing an intuitive and engaging user experience that accomplishes the client's goals for its digital applications. During their conversation, Rose and Mike discussed the challenges of untangling complex problems as well as the joy of flying.

How long have you been working for Brightspot?
I have been at Brightspot for over a year.

What was your latest project?
My latest project is Drive, Chip & Putt. It is a national youth golf competition for children between ages 7-15, that concludes at Augusta National the Sunday before The Masters. Over the past several months, we have worked on redesigning this site to provide an easier registration experience for participants and smoother back end process for event organizers.

Where did you work prior to Brightspot?
I previously worked at a small brand agency called Design Alliance, and after that at an in-house design department for Airlines Reporting Corporation.

Describe a unique challenge or project you have worked on at Brightspot?
There have been a number of challenging projects here at Brightspot, but the one I enjoyed the most was the migration of a former platform's content to Brightspot Social. This project had a lot of interwoven complexities that were fun and challenging to untangle, ultimately creating a new user interface.

How do you think Brightspot best benefits our clients?
Brightspot can be custom tailored to fit the experiences desired by editors and publishers. Recently, with Drive, Chip & Putt, we were able to take into account the work habits and workflows of the USGA and Augusta National and implement them in Brightspot.

What inspired you to purse a career in design?
I have always been influenced by my mom, who is an artist. Since I was a kid, I have followed her artistic side of the bloodline. So, once I started thinking about career paths, art was the direction I chose.

What is your favorite part about working for Brightspot?
My favorite part is working and collaborating with a variety of smart team members, who all approach problems with unique solutions.

If you could be any animal, which animal would you be, and why?
I would be an eagle, basically anything that could fly.

What are your favorite activities or hobbies?
I like to shoot photography, play inline hockey, and spend time with my wife and kids.

What are your favorite sport teams?
I like the Capitals, St. Louis Cardinals, and Redskins
