Web accessibility services

Regulators have converged on WCAG as the technical standard for accessibility, and real deadlines are landing in 2026 and 2027.

Brightspot delivers accessibility as a full offering. The same designers and credentialed accessibility specialists who build your site also fix it, so remediation lands directly in your design system.
How Brightspot delivers accessibility
Accessibility work spans two disciplines, and we deliver both from the same team that already builds your site.

Credentialed accessibility specialists
IAAP-credentialed specialists (CPACC, WAS, CPWA) who own WCAG conformance testing, content and semantic markup review, alt text and editorial remediation, and compliance documentation like VPATs.
Why this matters now
Depending on your sector, one of these deadlines may already apply to you.
ADA TITLE II
State and local government sites and apps must meet WCAG 2.1 AA. DOJ pushed the deadline back a year: April 24, 2027 for entities serving 50,000+ people, April 24, 2028 for smaller entities and special districts
SECTION 1557
HHS’s rule sets a WCAG 2.1 AA-aligned deadline of May 2026 for covered healthcare entities’ websites, patient portals and apps
PRIVATE SECTOR
No single statutory deadline, but ADA Title III lawsuits over inaccessible websites keep rising. WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard courts cite most in settlements.
WCAG, THE SHARED STANDARD
Regulators and courts converged on one technical yardstick. WCAG 2.2 is current: Level A is the minimum, AA the baseline most sites target, AAA the highest bar.

What I like the most is the Brightspot toolkit, especially the browser extension. It allows me to audit SEO and accessibility directly on the live site without needing to switch back to the admin dashboard, which saves me time and speeds up my workflow.

AA and AAA: What the certifications mean
LEVEL AA · THE BASELINE
The standard most regulations and legal settlements reference. We treat AA as the target for every engagement, across the full site.
LEVEL AAA · THE DIFFERENTIATOR
Higher-effort, higher-impact criteria like enhanced contrast, signlanguage alternatives and extended audio description. W3C doesn’t recommend AAA sitewide, so we apply it selectively, to the pages or criteria you choose.
Engagement models
Audit & roadmap
A focused audit and roadmap. The right entry point if you’re not ready to commit to remediation yet, or need a VPAT for a specific deal.
Audit + remediation project
Fixed-scope engagement covering Audit through Train, sized to a defined set of templates, pages or components.
Accessibility retainer
Recurring monitoring, quarterly re-audits and always-on remediation support. Pairs naturally with our publishing and SEO retainers.
Semantic structure, alt text and clean markup that make a site accessible are the same things that make it legible to search engines and AI crawlers.

Accessibility questions, answered

AA is the baseline most regulations and legal settlements reference. We treat it as the target for every engagement, across the full site. AAA covers higher-effort, higher-impact criteria like enhanced contrast, signlanguage alternatives and extended audio description. W3C doesn’t recommend AAA sitewide, so we apply it selectively, to the pages or criteria you choose.

An automated scan across your priority templates, plus manual review of what automated tools miss: assistive technology testing, color contrast and semantic structure review, a design-system and component audit, and a content audit covering alt text, heading hierarchy and accessible documents. You get a prioritized findings report, scored by WCAG success criterion, severity and remediation effort.

Both. The same designers and editors who audit your site also remediate it, so fixes land directly in your design system and your content.

They overlap more than people expect. Semantic structure, alt text and clean markup that make a site accessible are the same things that make it legible to search engines and AI crawlers.

An audit findings report, a VPAT / Accessibility Conformance Report, a remediation roadmap, updated designsystem components and documentation, edited content and alt text, an accessible document set, publisher guidelines, training materials, and monitoring reports plus an accessibility statement.
