Permissions and multiple sites

You can share items with other sites your company publishes.

Sharing content with other sites Sharing content with other sites

Referring to the previous diagram—

  • You can make the item “Low-Calorie Cakes for Hard-Working Astronauts” available for publication on two sites: Astronomy and Desserts.
  • You can make the item “Triple-Layer Pomegranate Mousse” available for publication on only one site: Desserts.

Because Brightspot organizes editors into roles and sites, when you share an item with a site, you are also sharing it with other editors. If a role has access to site, and that site has access to an item, then all editors associated with that role have access to the item.

Sharing content with other editors Sharing content with other editors

Referring to the previous diagram—

  • Mary is associated with the role Science Writers, and that role is associated with the site Astronomy. Referring to the illustration Sharing content with other sites, Mary can publish the item “Low-Calorie Cakes for Hard-Working Astronauts” to her Astronomy site.
  • Sam is associated with the role Food Writers, and that role is associated with the site Desserts. Sam can publish the items “Low-Calorie Cakes for Hard-Working Astronauts” and “Triple-Layer Pomegranate Mousse” to his site.
  • Adam is a global editor with no role, so he can publish both items to both sites.

You can fine-tune other editors’ access to your items. For details, see Assign permissions to content on multiple sites.
