How long have you worked at Brightspot? What brought you here?
I actually just hit my one-year anniversary recently, so that was exciting. The whole year went by really fast! As far as what brought me here, I had been in the consulting world previously and was looking for a role at more of a product-focused company with exciting technology — and Brightspot seemed like a great fit for that.

Can you tell me more about your role as a product delivery leader? What is a typical day like for you?
I support and work on our Johnson & Johnson account, which includes various projects. Our projects tend to move quickly, so no two days are the same. I usually start most days in stand-ups with our development team, then spend most of my afternoons in meetings with our customers. Outside of meetings and stand-ups, I spend a lot of my time keeping track of project schedules, project budgets, resources, and managing the overall delivery of our projects across our engagements.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job here at Brightspot?
That’s a great question! I would say the most challenging part is keeping up with all the incredibly smart people who work here on our teams. I feel like Brightspot is lucky to have some really talented people, and it’s always fun and challenging at the same time to try to keep up with everybody. I have definitely learned a lot in my first year here.

Reflecting back on your first year at Brightspot, what is a particular moment or project that stands out as a highlight?
I think the projects that have been the most memorable have probably been our globalization efforts. The Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine organization has a really important pharmaceutical presence around the world. Brightspot was tasked with building new websites for 48 countries in their local markets. It was a fascinating experience to work with people all over the world, gain insight into different cultures, and see how people in those cultures operate and work in a corporate setting. We also often had to work across language barriers to deliver a website that met the specific needs of each country. It was really rewarding to go through that process 40 different times. It allowed us to perfect the migration process and learn a lot of valuable lessons that we’ve carried into future projects as well.

What traits are most important to making you successful at your job?
I think the top two that come to mind are flexibility and organization. Flexibility is needed to adapt to the fast pace and evolving landscape that our customers operate in. Organization is critical to keeping our internal priorities clear and aligned across all of our teams.

How have you grown professionally since starting at Brightspot?
I feel like I’ve definitely grown a lot in my first year. We’ve delivered so many projects, and I have developed a stronger ability to think dynamically throughout a project’s life cycle. Often we start a project with a certain plan or schedule in mind, and I’ve had to learn how to adjust, react, and course-correct as a project and its priorities evolve over time. This has been an important skill to learn and something I’ve hopefully gotten better at along the way.

Besides the people, what is your favorite part about working at Brightspot?
The people would definitely be my number one callout and what I enjoy the most at Brightspot. Outside of that, and more specific to the work we do, my favorite part is getting to work on such a wide range of different projects, from internal documentation sites to front-end redesigns to interactive cancer screening widgets. The flexibility of our platform has allowed us to deliver so many unique solutions for our customers, and it has really made the job exciting and rewarding.

What are your favorite activities or hobbies to do outside of the office?
Outside of the office, I would say I spend a lot of my free time running. It’s a hobby I picked up after college, and it’s something I put a lot of time and effort into. I enjoy traveling to new places for different races and events. I also love playing tennis, reading, and just hanging out with friends and family, especially spending time with my nieces.

If you could have any superpower, which would you like to have? Why?
That's a tough one! I think maybe flying. I was going to say something cooler like time traveling, but then I realized how many things could go wrong with that. So, I’m going to go with flying. It’s pretty simple, useful, and just sounds fun — I’m sure nothing could go wrong with that.

What is your favorite television show? Would you recommend it?
I’m a huge TV fan, and there are so many shows I love and have on my list of favorites. In the past year or two, my favorite has been Severance on Apple TV. Despite being work-related, I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a really unique psychological thriller drama. I’ve really enjoyed it.
