Configuring a Brightcove API

This topic explains how to configure an API instance in your Brightcove console. After you complete this configuration, you can proceed with the integration into Brightspot as described in Configuring video ingestion from Brightcove.

The following procedure describes an activity in a third-party application. While Brightspot periodically validates this procedure, individual steps may change in the interim without our knowledge. If you notice an inaccuracy, please leave feedback using the widget at the bottom of this topic.

To configure a Brightcove API:

  1. Log in to your Brightcove account.
  2. Click ⚙ > API Authentication.
  3. Click Add application.
  4. Enter the Name of the API and a short Description.
  5. Select the Brightcove accounts you want to be available through this authentication.
  6. Mark the following services:

    • CMS > Playlist Read
    • CMS > Video Read 
    • Players > Read
  7. Click Save.
  8. In the Copy Your Client Secret widget, copy/paste the Client ID and Client Secret into a text file.
  9. Click Okay, I copied it.
  10. Click ⚙ > Account Information.
  11. Copy the Account ID into the same text file.

Proceed to the procedure in Configuring video ingestion from Brightcove, using the client ID, client secret, and account information you pasted into the text file.
