Brightspot Integrations Guide

Creating API credentials in JW Player

This topic explains how to create API credentials in JW Player. Once you add those credentials to Brightspot, editors can browse for videos in your JW Player account.

Note
The following procedure describes an activity in a third-party application. While Brightspot periodically validates this procedure, individual steps may change in the interim without our knowledge. If you notice an inaccuracy, please leave feedback using the widget at the bottom of this topic.

Tip
The configuration in this topic is often done in parallel with the associated configuration in Brightspot. Consider performing this procedure along with the one described in Configuring the JW Player integration.

To configure a JW Player API:

  1. Log in to your JW Player account.
  2. Click ⚙ > API Credentials.
  3. Under v2 API Credentials, click Add.
  4. In the API Key widget, enter a Name and User Role.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Back under v2 API Credentials, click Show Secret for the API key you created, and paste the key into a text editor. (In the procedure Configuring the JW Player integration you paste the secret, and the values from steps 8–9 below, into the JW Player configuration in Brightspot.)
  7. Click ⚙ > API Credentials.
  8. Paste the Property ID into a text editor.
  9. In the left rail, click Players, and do the following:
    1. Paste the Player ID into a text editor.
    2. Paste the Player ID for a player with 16:9 aspect ratio into a text editor.
