Preparing a video for publication


In This Guide

You can use the following features to prepare a video for publication:

  • Adjust the video’s colors for brightness, contrast, and other characteristics
  • Add image overlays to the video
  • Clip the video

All of these features are available in the video editing form, seen below.

The following sections describe each step in detail.


Adjusting a video’s colors

You can apply color correction to a video.

To adjust a video's colors:

  1. Create a new video as described in Submitting a video to AWS Elemental.
  2. Above the video's preview, click Edit.

  3. On the video editing form, under Color, adjust the sliders to achieve the desired color correction.

  4. Click Done.

Adding image overlays to a video

You can add images to a video that fade in and out during video playback.

To add an image overlay to a video:

  1. Create a new video as described in Submitting a video to AWS Elemental.
  2. Above the video's preview, click Edit.
  3. On the video edit form, under Overlay, under Overlays, click add_circle_outline.
  4. Do one of the following:

    • Select One-Off Overlay to add a one-off overlay.
    • Select Shared to add a shared overlay.
  5. Fill out the remaining fields in the form, specifying position, entry/exit, duration, and other features. As you enter values in the form, Brightspot provides a preview of the overlay.

  6. Repeat steps 3–5 to add additional overlays. Brightspot displays the overlays in the order you add them.
  7. Click Done.

Clipping videos

You can remove segments from a video that may not be of interest to your visitors.

To clip a video:

  1. Create a new video as described in Submitting a video to AWS Elemental.
  2. Above the video's preview, click Edit.
  3. In the Preparing a video for publication section, under Clip, do the following:

    1. On the filmstrip, click at the starting point for the clip.
    2. Click at the ending point for the clip.
    3. With your mouse, adjust the starting and ending points as necessary.
    4. Repeat steps a–c to add additional clips.

    As you add clips, Brightspot adds the corresponding time codes to the video editing form.

  4. Click Done.

When you publish the video, visitors see only the clipped portions of the original video.
