Brightspot Content Types Guide

Author


An author is information about a contributor to a site that can be displayed on a page by itself, and can also be associated with another asset, such as an article to serve as attribution. Generally speaking, the author is credited as the creator of an asset.

Tip
If necessary, create and upload images you will use in the author. For details, see Image.

To create an author:

  1. In the header, click add.
  2. From the Create list, select Author.
  3. Using the following table as a reference, complete the fields as needed.
  4. Complete your site's workflow and publish the author.
Field Description
Name Author's full name. This name is visible to the visitors to your site.
First Name Author's first name. This name is not visible to the visitors to your site.
Last Name Author's last name. This name is not visible to the visitors to your site.
URL Slug This field, by default, is auto-populated by a Title, Name, or Headline field, and becomes part of the asset's URL.

Auto-populated slugs are lowercase, have diacritics removed, and any symbols or spaces are replaced with -.

You can modify the URL Slug field if necessary.
Image Author's image, typically a head shot. This image is visible to the visitors to your site.
Title Enter a title. This title is visible to the visitors to your site.
Affiliation
Organization with which the author is affiliated. This name is not visible to the visitors to your site.
Email Author's email. The email is not visible to the visitors to your site.
Short Biography Enter a short biography. When the author appears in a list, this text is visible to the visitors to your site. (If left blank, the Short Biography displays the Full Biography by default.)
Full Biography Text that appears in the author's bio. This text is visible to the visitors to your site.
Social
Facebook Username Enter the username associated with the author's Facebook account.
Instagram Username Enter the username associated with the author's Instagram account.
LinkedIn Entity Select one of the following options:
  • None—Brightspot will not display a social link to a LinkedIn account on the front end.
  • Company—Enter the name of the company with which the author is affiliated.
  • Showcase—Enter the name of the showcase with which the author is affiliated.
  • User—Enter the username associated with the author's LinkedIn account.

You can only select one option from this list.

Pinterest Username Enter the username associated with the author's Pinterest account.
TikTok Username Enter the username associated with the author's TikTok account.
Tumblr Username Enter the username associated with the author's Tumblr account.
Twitter Username Enter the username associated with the author's Twitter account.
YouTube Entity Select one of the following options:
  • NoneBrightspot will not display a social link to a YouTube account on your site.
  • Channel—Enter the name of the channel associated with the author.
  • Custom—Enter the name of a custom channel or video.

Note
If more than one author is attributed to an asset, Brightspot will display each author's bio on the page.
