Applying a breaking news banner


This topic explains how to apply a breaking news banner to your assets at the global level, site level, section level, and asset level. To apply a breaking news banner, you must create one first. For more information on creating a breaking news banner, see Breaking News Banner.

Applying breaking news banners at the global level

To apply a breaking news banner at the global level:
  1. Click menu> Admin > Sites & Settings > Sites > Global.
  2. Click search, located to the left of more_horiz, and type Layout.
  3. In the Banner list, select Replace.
  4. Click add_circle_outline , then select a breaking news banner.
  5. Click Save.

Applying breaking news banners at the site level

To apply a breaking news banner at the site level:
  1. Click menu > Admin > Sites & Settings.
  2. In the Sites list, select the site to which you would like to add a breaking news banner.
  3. Click search, located to the left of more_horiz, and type Layout.
  4. In the Banner list, select Replace.
  5. Click add_circle_outline , then select a breaking news banner.
  6. Click Save.

Applying breaking news banners at the section level

To apply a breaking news banner at the section level:
  1. Search for and open the asset to which you want to add a breaking news banner. In this case, the asset must be a section, blog, or podcast.
  2. Select the Overrides tab.
  3. Expand Layout Overrides.
  4. In the Banner list, select Replace.
  5. Click add_circle_outline , then select a breaking news banner.
  6. Complete your site's workflow and publish the asset.

Applying breaking news banners at the asset level

To apply a breaking news banner at the asset level:
  1. Search for and open the asset to which you want to add a breaking news banner.
  2. Select the Overrides tab.
  3. Expand Layout Overrides.
  4. In the Banner list, select Replace.
  5. Click add_circle_outline , then select a breaking news banner.
  6. Click Save.
