Injecting ads into a listicle


You can inject ads between items in a listicle.

To inject ads into a listicle:

  1. Configure an ad module as described in Creating ad modules.
  2. Click menu > Admin > Sites & Settings.
  3. In the Sites widget, select the site for which you are injecting ads into listicles, or select Global to inject ads into all listicles.
  4. Click search, located to the left of more_horiz, and type Ads.
  5. Toggle off Disable All Ad Injection.
  6. Under Ad Injection Profiles, click add_circle_outline.
  7. Click search.
  8. In the Create widget, select Component Based Ad Injector, and then click New.

  9. Toggle on Enabled.
  10. From the Types list, click add_circle_outline, and select Listicle.
  11. From the Ad list, select one of the available ad modules.
  12. In the Offset field, enter the number of components before which no ad appears. For example, if you enter 3, Brightspot injects the first ad after the third component in the listicle.
  13. In the Frequency field, enter the number of components between each ad. For example, if you enter 4, Brightspot injects an ad after each four components.
  14. In the Limit field, enter the maximal number of ads to appear in a listicle. For example, if you enter 2, Brightspot injects up to two ads in the listicle.
  15. Click Save.
  16. Click Back.
  17. Select the ad injector you just created, and close the content picker.
  18. In the Disable Ads Parameter Value field, enter a query string that blocks an ad feed.

    Referring to the previous illustration, disableAds=567abcded is the query string that blocks ads in the listicle. When a visitor includes that query string in an listicle's URL, Brightspot does not retrieve ads.

  19. Click Save.
