Creating a live blog


A live blog is a container for live blog posts. You must first publish a live blog before editors can post comments to it.

Tip
If necessary, create and upload images you will use in the live blog. For details, see Image.


To create a live blog:

  1. In the header, click add.
  2. From the Create list, select Live Blog.
  3. Using the following table as a reference, complete the fields as needed.
  4. Complete your site's workflow and publish the live blog.
Field Description
Headline Enter a headline. This headline is visible to the visitors to your site.
Subheadline Enter a subheadline. This subheadline is visible to the visitors to your site.
URL Slug This field, by default, is auto-populated by a Title, Name, or Headline field, and becomes part of the asset's URL.

Auto-populated slugs are lowercase, have diacritics removed, and any symbols or spaces are replaced with -.

You can modify the URL Slug field if necessary.
Authors Select one or more authors. The authors are not visible to visitors to your site.

Lead Add a module that appears after the asset's headline and before its body. This module is visible to visitors to your site.

What You Need To Know Use the rich-text editor to provide a summary of the event. Text in this field is visible to visitors to your site.
  • Click One-Off to make an embedded What You Need To Know body.
  • Click Shared to search for an existing What You Need To Know body, or to create a new one.
Body Use the rich-text editor to include text, lists, images, and links to other assets. Text in this field is visible to visitors to your site.

Section Select the sections associated with this asset. This selection is not visible to your visitors.

Secondary Sections Select one or more sections. uses secondary sections to populate dynamic lists.
Tags Select the tags associated with this asset. This selection is not visible to visitors to your site.

Embargo Select a date until which Brightspot embargoes the asset, or select Indefinitely to embargo the asset indefinitely. This field becomes read-only after you publish the asset.
Live Event Select one of the following:
  • Automatic—Automatically retains the live blog's live status.

    • In the Hours Before Blog Is Not Live field, add a number between 1–24, which represents the number of hours after which the live blog will no longer display as Live .
  • Manual—Manually sets an Expiration Date, after which the live blog will no longer display as live.
Sponsor Select the sponsor associated with this asset. This selection is not visible to the visitors to your site.
