v5.0.0-rc.2025.06.23 beta release

Release date: June 23, 2025

v5.0.0-rc.2025.06.23 release had 10 new feature, six improvements, and 36 bug fixes.

Significant new features

  • Enhanced the Content Type component in v5 with updated styling and improved icon presentation in the admin UI.
  • Enhanced the APIs section.
  • Introduced updated styling for the Theme Bundle Editor in v5.
  • Introduced updated styling for the Crosslinker component in v5.
  • Introduced integration with Amazon Bedrock Guardrails in v5, enabling admins to configure comprehensive monitoring policies for Create with AI interactions. This enhancement allows for real-time detection of policy violations—including harmful content, sensitive information, and denied topics—across supported AI models, providing greater oversight and safety without blocking user requests or responses.
  • Added a new node module in v5 that exposes the complete CMS TailwindCSS configuration, enabling external projects to seamlessly reuse, extend, and opt into Brightspot’s UI styling and plugins, with continued support for VSCode Intellisense.
  • Expanded Amazon Bedrock Guardrails monitoring to Ask AI interactions in v5, enabling policy-based detection of harmful or sensitive content. Admins can now configure guardrails for Ask AI with detection mode providing oversight without blocking responses.
  • Added enhanced AI reporting to the Audit widget, allowing users to monitor and review AI interactions that violate Guardrail policies. The updated widget provides comprehensive metadata, advanced filtering options, and clear visual indicators for policy violations.
  • Deprecated express-dam to prevent duplicate features from appearing in the CMS at once.
  • Introduced new training content for v5 UI, providing developers with comprehensive guidance on the latest UI concepts and TailwindCSS usage.

Significant improvements

  • Refined List Manager widget styles in v5 RTE for improved layout and usability.
  • Enhanced spell check styling in v5 RTE, improving the display and interaction of spelling problem indicators and suggestions.
  • Updated the Content Types Icon field to support Lucide icons in v5. Tooltips and UI references now guide users to lucide.dev, and valid Lucide icons will display consistently across all relevant widgets and components.
  • Added table headers to the Recent Activity and Alerts dashboard widgets in v5.
  • Combined the v4 and v5 JavaScript bundles into a single bundle.
  • Added additional examples of Brightspot UI’s custom TWCSS plugins to Storybook.

Significant defects addressed

  • Resolved an issue where the color distribution for an image would not update after replacing the file.
  • Fixed an issue where the Report widget could throw an error if not configured as a ValueReporter or TableReporter.
  • Fixed an issue where fields in content forms would appear duplicated after a validation error.
  • Corrected the markup for the RTE custom keyboard by replacing the parent div with an ordered list.
  • Fixed an issue where reply counts in the conversations widget did not update after posting a reply.
  • Added missing aria-labels to DashboardWidget-maximize buttons.
  • Resolved an issue where the focus on the More/Less Filters link was cut off.
  • Fixed an issue where there was an unnecessary empty space and extra divider line from the top of combo input dropdowns when no default selection was present.
  • Addressed a layout issue where Dari error messages in search results would break the grid, overlap the close icon, and prevent scrolling.
  • Resolved multiple UI issues in the associated Content Widget, including overlapping scrollbars, non-functional view and filter buttons, and layout problems on smaller screens.
  • Fixed an issue where closing stacked pop-ups (pop-up over pop-up) triggered an unnecessary "navigate away" confirmation that required multiple clicks to dismiss.
  • Fixed an issue of styling by applying proper styling to the header of the External Content Import widget.
  • Improved drag-and-drop responsiveness throughout Galleries, Lists, The Shelf, Content Forms, and Workflow UI, eliminating choppiness and freezing during drag operations.
  • Corrected the styling of the first column in the Report widget table so that it now displays with the proper white background and 14px font size.
  • Resolved an issue where the RCS list dropdown action icons appeared with a lag and briefly displayed in the wrong position before correcting.
  • Updated the selected state for icon buttons in Search to display the correct blue border, fill, and icon color.
  • Updated the content status badge to accurately reflect the current status of each item and ensured consistent status label colors throughout the CMS.
  • Addressed multiple upload form issues, including removal of a duplicate success icon, improved styling for unsupported file type banners, and restored proper scrolling behavior so the action bar remains correctly positioned within the container.
  • Resolved an issue that caused the Create with AI modal to move irregularly upon prompt submission.
  • Fixed an issue where the Recent Activity widget table was not scrollable and the first column was compressed, restoring proper layout and scroll functionality.
  • Improved typing performance in the rich-text editor by optimizing the overflow button functionality.
  • Restored the visibility of the active, changed, and error state indicator on content edit fields. The field highlight now displays correctly when a field is selected.
  • Fixed an issue where success and error messages in pop-ups were hidden behind the action bar.
  • Corrected the styling of the action bar in the Edit Guide pop-up so that the Save button now matches the expected appearance that is consistent with other pop-ups.
  • Fixed an issue where the banner link for newly scheduled events was rendered as plain text; links now appear correctly and open the Edit Schedule pop-up as expected.
  • Refactored PostAction logic out of tool pages to prevent errors caused by uninitialized instance fields.
  • Resolved an issue where Widget, Cluster, and Tab fields were duplicated in content forms in both visible and hidden items after a validation error.
  • Fixed an issue where adding an image to a File field in pop-ups caused the grid to break.
  • Adjusted the spacing in the Calendar Color Manager pop-up to eliminate unnecessary gaps between input fields.
  • Corrected the background styling for the Transition link in the Notifications Menu.
  • Addressed timeout failures in Playwright tests by standardizing the Node.js environment and ensuring browser assets are properly installed.
  • Corrected the ordering of table headers in the Search view to match the data columns and combined Update Date and Time into a single column.
  • Resolved an issue where configuring a Report Widget to display Average Time On Page in table format could cause a NullPointerException.
  • Resolved issues with non-functional AI features in 5.0, including Ask AI conversation history, AI content flagging, and Author Personas, by ensuring all relevant updates were correctly merged.
  • Restored visible group headings and appropriate spacing in the module style picker.
  • Fixed an issue causing a NullPointerException in the Conversations widget.
